This page describes how Amansi works today and will be updated before public launch.
Who we are
Amansi is a food marketplace in Mali. It connects customers, independent restaurants and delivery riders through the Amansi customer app, the Amansi rider app, the restaurant panel and this website. Amansi decides why and how your personal data is used, so we are responsible for it.
Questions or requests about your data: info@amansi.com.
What we collect, and how
We collect data in three ways: you give it to us (when you sign up, fill in a form, place an order or send a message), your device shares it with us when you allow it (location, notifications, photos), and it is created by using the service (orders, deliveries, payments). What we collect depends on who you are.
Customers:
- Your phone number, which is how you sign in, and the one-time codes we send to it. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive an identifier from them and, if you allow it, your name and email. If you set a password, we store only a protected version of it.
- Your name, email address and profile photo, if you add them.
- Your delivery addresses: street, landmark, GPS position, delivery notes, and the name and phone number of the person receiving the order.
- Your orders: what you ordered, from which restaurant, the amounts, fees, discounts and coupons, the status and the time of each step.
- Your payment: the payment is made with our payment provider. We keep the status and the provider's reference, never your full card number.
- Your messages and photos sent in chats with restaurants, riders and Amansi Support, your reviews and their photos, your table bookings (phone number, party size, note), the restaurants you save, and your referral invitations.
- Your device notification token and language, so we can send you order updates.
Riders
For riders we also collect:
- Your name, phone number, province and city.
- Identity and vehicle verification: national ID number and photos of the ID, driving licence, vehicle registration, insurance and commercial permit if you provide them, your profile photo, and the vehicle type, plate number and colour.
- An emergency contact: name, relationship, phone number and address.
- Your live location while you are online and during deliveries, so we can offer you nearby deliveries, check you are at the pickup and drop-off, and show the customer where you are.
- Your deliveries, earnings, withdrawals, payout account details, support requests and chats.
- Your consents: acceptance of the terms, privacy policy and code of conduct, and your marketing preferences.
Restaurants and their staff
For restaurants we also collect:
- The owner's name, phone number and identity document photos, and the staff phone numbers and roles.
- The business details: legal and display name, phone, email, registration certificate, logo, cover image, description, locations, opening hours and menu.
- The orders, bookings and reviews the business receives, its subscription payments, and its messages with customers, riders and Amansi Support.
- Browser notification details, if you turn browser alerts on in the restaurant panel.
Visitors of this website
The contact form does not store anything on our servers. It prepares a message that you send yourself through WhatsApp or your email app, under their own policies.
The restaurant and rider application forms send what you enter to our servers, because that is how your application is created. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers. See the cookies page for the few cookies the application forms use.
Why we use your data
We use your data only for the reasons below.
- To create and secure your account, and to sign you in with a one-time code, password, Google or Apple.
- To run the service: take and pay for orders, pass the right details to the restaurant and the rider, dispatch deliveries, handle refunds, bookings, reviews and chats.
- To verify and approve riders and restaurants before they start working.
- To pay riders and calculate what restaurants are owed.
- To keep the platform safe: prevent fraud and abuse, limit repeated attempts, investigate incidents and settle disputes.
- To send you notifications about your orders and account. They stay short and generic on your lock screen.
- To provide support and to improve the service.
- To find and fix crashes and bugs in the apps.
- To meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations.
Who sees your data
Restaurants see what they need to prepare and deliver your order: the order, your name, phone number and delivery address. Riders see the pickup and delivery details, and your phone number, for the deliveries they accept. Chat messages are visible to the people in the conversation and to Amansi Support. Amansi staff access personal data only as needed for their role, and their actions are logged.
Companies that help us run Amansi process data for us, and only for that purpose:
- Stripe, which processes card payments and refunds.
- Google, for Google Maps and Places (maps, address search and routes), Google Sign-In, and Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications).
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google), which receives crash reports from the mobile apps: the error, the phone model, the system version and the app version. It does not receive your name, messages or addresses.
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple.
- Cloudinary, which stores the photos and documents you upload.
- Our hosting provider, which runs our servers and databases, and the provider that delivers our text messages.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with authorities when the law requires it.
Your location
The customer app asks for your location to suggest nearby restaurants and to place your address on the map. You can refuse; you can still type an address. The rider app uses your location only while you are online or on a delivery. Location is not collected when the apps are closed and you are offline.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your personal data is erased as described below. Records that accounting and disputes need are kept in anonymous form for as long as the law requires. Inactive one-time codes and sessions expire automatically.
Deleting your account and your data
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, inside the app or panel:
- Customer app: Profile, then Delete account.
- Rider app: Profile, then Delete account. On the waiting and rejected screens, use Delete account as well.
- Restaurant panel: Profile, then Delete account. This works while your application is under review, rejected or suspended too.
When you confirm, your sign-in is closed immediately and you are logged out. The personal data below is then erased permanently and cannot be recovered.
What is erased
Customers: your name, phone number, email, Google and Apple sign-in links, password, profile photo, saved addresses, cart, saved restaurants, notifications, device tokens, chat conversations and their photos, review text, review photos and name, feedback you sent, booking contact details and notes, and the recipient name, phone number and address stored on your past orders. Open referral invitations are cancelled.
Riders: your name, phone number, identity, licence, vehicle and insurance documents and photos, plate number, emergency contact, support requests, chats, notifications, device tokens, live location, and your payout account and payout numbers, including on past withdrawals.
Restaurant staff: your name, phone number, password and identity documents. If you are the owner, deleting your account closes the business: it is delisted, every staff account is removed, and the business phone, email, registration certificate, logo, cover image, description, messages and notifications are erased. A manager or staff member who deletes their account affects only their own account.
What we keep, and why
Orders, payments, refunds, deliveries, earnings, withdrawal amounts and the accounting records built from them are kept, because the restaurants, riders and Amansi still need them for accounting, tax and disputes. After deletion they no longer point to any person: they are linked to an anonymous deleted account. A restaurant's business name stays on past orders. We keep them for as long as accounting and tax rules require.
Copies in our backups are overwritten as backups rotate, so they can outlast the deletion for a limited time. We do not use them to restore a deleted account.
When deletion is refused
To protect other people's money and deliveries, we refuse the deletion while work is still open, and tell you exactly what to finish first:
- Customers: an order still in progress, or a table booking that is pending or accepted.
- Riders: a delivery in progress, or earnings waiting to be paid out, including a withdrawal not yet paid.
- Restaurant owners: orders still in progress, or open table bookings, for the business.
Your other rights
You can ask us to access, correct or restrict the use of your data, or to object to it, by writing to info@amansi.com. You can edit most details in the app, and you can switch off notifications or location in your phone settings.
Security
Connections to Amansi are encrypted. Passwords are stored in protected form. Each account is signed in on one device at a time, and customers, riders and restaurants cannot use each other's access. Delivery codes are protected against guessing. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone and codes private.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy when the service changes, and change the date at the top. For anything about your data: info@amansi.com.
